Originally from West Yorkshire, Katy is a Dance Artist curious about the connection between improvisational dance practice and learning environments. She is passionate about sharing her work with all ages and abilities. This website shares different aspects of her freelance work and her interests in life long learning and the joy dance can bring to people's lives.

Teacher & Facilitator

Katy is curious about translating her practice to all ages & abilities in a playful, imagery, self discovery led way. She has taught for a wide range of organisations and projects:​

  • Professional Classes -  ProDance Leeds, The Middle Floor (Leeds) & Surface Area Dance Theatre.

  • Children (Early Years) - Improplay, Moving Stories (see tabs above) 

  • Children (5yrs+) - Creative Dance Class for 5/6yrs olds (Learning & Participation at Northern School of Contemporary Dance), Primary Schools (Rural Steps Project, Northern Ballet) & in Italy (Global English Theatre). 

  • Young People (9-19yrs) - Youth Technique & Youth Dance Company, High School Taster Sessions, Auditions for Centre for Advanced Training (CAT), CAT Creative Choreography Module, CAT Easter Intensive.(NSCD), Rural Steps (ACE supported project) School Taster sessions across North Yorkshire, setting up youth dance companies in Skipton, Harrogate & Thirsk.   • In 2019 Katy joined the Flying Seagull Project at UK Festivals and in Greece (Lesvos & Samos Refugee Camps) giving smiles and laughter, play, magic, songs and dance to children & young people. Check out www.theflyingseagullproject.com to support this charity and the incredible work they do.

Improplay Project (R&D Arts Council England Funded) 

A research & development exploring collaboration between children & professional dancers. Investigating how the power of imagination & improvisational dance practice can create new perspectives for learning engagement in educational environments.

Moving Stories - An Interactive Performance Work

(Leeds Dance Partnership/Yorkshire Dance supported)

Inspired by Montessori approaches & non verbal communication between children-teachers & children-parents. The work is for Nursery's, Reception & Key Stage 1 or community settings. (See Moving Stories tab above for more information).
