Youth Dance in
Rural North Yorkshire
As part of the Rural Steps Project over the last year alongside Zanna Dennis and Ruth Johnson I have been developing youth dance provision in rural areas of North Yorkshire: Thirsk, Skipton and Harrogate. (Please see separate tabs above for more information about opportunities for participation in each location). ​
RESEARCH:
Due to the pandemic, provision, delivery and young peoples interests and motivation to take part in activities may have altered... To find out more about the ways we can support young people and families, we are carrying out some research with individuals living in rural North Yorkshire, organisations, youth club leaders and community centres.

Visual Mapping
We are identifying young people (aged 9–16*) who are already engaging with dance and other creative activity in rural North Yorkshire. This is to identify possible gaps where grassroots dance activity is not currently taking place, specifically within Harrogate and Skipton postcode areas.

To help break down barriers to participation and accessibility in rural areas :
Dance organisations/youth groups/theatres/private dance schools delivering activity in North Yorkshire ... Can you help us collate information for our mapping exercise?
